Cecil Ince, candiate for Texas House of Representatives

I'm pleased to introduce Cecil Ince, a Libertarian from the Lone Star State running in District 105 for the House of Representatives in 2010. Like other Libertarians, candidate Ince holds views focused on what is right instead of what is simply popular.

A native of Texas, Cecil Anthony Ince was born in Fort Worth and now resides in Irving. He is an ordained minister, and devoted husband and father that advocates for the rights of families.

Advocating family rights is important because it promotes individual responsibility on the part of parents who are the rightful managers and decision-makers for themselves and the lives of their children. Strong parents make strong families, and that gives us all a better chance to fend off those with a nanny state mentality that would have us become more dependent on government and less reliant on our own common sense.

Candidate Ince has been a member of the Libertarian party since 1995, so he is well steeped in the principles of limited and constitutionally based government, individual freedom, free enterprise and justice. He is a self-proclaimed Jeffersonian when it comes to his political positions, and that sound great to me. We need more people who understand and appreciate the wisdom of Thomas Jefferson.

To find out more about his campaign for a state house seat, see his campaign website.

Let's look at his perspectives on various subjects to get a better idea of who Cecil Ince is and why he deserves our support.

When it comes to our monetary system, candidate Ince recognizes that the Federal Reserve printing fiat currency is unconstitutional and is leading us in the wrong direction. He knows that our money should be worth more than the paper it's printed on. Our dollar is only worth a dollar because we say it is, but Cecil Ince knows that world financial markets will have the final say as to what our dollar is really worth.

I'm most impressed with Cecil Ince when it comes to identifying who's to blame for our economic, social and political problems. He hits the nail squarely on the head. The people are to blame for putting up with the kind of government we have. Sure, he recognizes that those in power in government are the immediate cause of most of our troubles simply because they try to govern outside of constitutional limitations. Nevertheless, he sees the root cause is nearly always a people that allow themselves to be deceived, and pass on that culture of deception from one generation to another. Cecil Ince believes that the "silent majority" can reestablish the country as it was originally envisioned by our founders, if only they would see their responsibility, get involved, and take action to reclaim their liberty and limited government.

It's also important to note that Cecil Ince sees that ignorance and apathy in the general population exhibits itself in those who hold office. Therefore, he believes that one of his primary responsibilities is to educate the general public so we will have better informed and thoughtful voters as well as office holders.

Cecil Ince has more than criticism for the way our system of government is setup, he has solutions too. He believes that the practice of taking property under the guise of eminent domain should be prohibited. His suggestion here is well deserved. Despite a constitution that recognizes the taking of private property for public use, those in government have focused on taking private property and giving it to other private parties. This sounds a lot like theft to me - legalized theft all in the name of getting more revenue in the form of higher property taxes.

He's also in favor of repealing property taxes. Candidate Ince recognizes that our property tax system is largely upside down with higher taxes penalizing those who invest in property and improve it. It's also gives government a financial grip on the wealth of others, and an ability to squeeze out more money by changing tax rates, methods of valuation, and defining the scope of real and private property subject to taxation.

With respect to the role of the United States, candidate Ince is against our self-appointed role as policeman of the world. He sees that it has gotten us into foreign entanglements that our founders warned us about. Such entanglements have led us to war and wasted treasure, neither of which is good for our economic growth, and it certainly hasn't improved our standing in terms of world favor.

Cecil Ince strongly supports our sovereignty as a nation, and would like to turn us around from the world unification that many at the UN would like to see. He recognizes that America has the purest form of individual freedom and greatest opportunity for economic prosperity and social justice. Therefore, the United States should continue to serve as a role model for other nations in this regard, and resist attempts to blur the distinctions between nations, as this will result in much the same adverse consequences as we see today with Washington passing laws that continue to blur the distinction between states.

Cecil Ince is also against the Patriot Act as it sacrifices individual liberty in the name of safety. It's as our founders warned us - restrictions on individual liberty will be called for as a means of protecting ourselves from external threats. From where I sit, Cecil Ince would be good friends with Benjamin Franklin who warned us, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

I support the candidacy of Mr. Ince. If you would like to support his candidacy, please donate what you can to help spread the word of liberty, limited government and fiscal conservatism.
